Greenwich is a beautiful part of London, characterised by a stunning stretch of the River Thames and its corresponding maritime history as well as a large park offering impressive views down to London.
Trishna: Best posh Indian for quite some time (March 2015)
Ma Goa: Flavour explosion (December 2014)
Our annual Christmas gathering of university chums and partners saw us in Putney on the Saturday before Christmas with Ma Goa as the venue. Modern and trendy it may not be, but in terms of food quality, this restaurant definitely deserves to be up there, ranking among some of the tastiest Indian food recently sampled in London.
Bombay Nights: Good local Indian (August 2014)
Meghna Grill St John’s Wood: Great neighbourhood Indian (June 2014)
Benares: Over-priced and overrated (May 2014)
It doesn’t matter how many times I go to Benares, I just can’t get to like it. This was the first time for me for a while, but it hadn't improved since my previous visit. Clearly chef Atul Kochhar must be doing something right to have earned a Michelin star for the eighth consecutive year, and while the food may have been good, it certainly wasn’t outstanding, the whole experience far from cheap, and the atmosphere underwhelming.
Gymkhana (April 2014)
Bombay Palace: Great food, but terrible service (November 2013)
Jali (February 2013)
Do not be put off by the location and go to Jali for the food. My dining comrade and I were impressed both by the quality and the value for money, it was a pity about the setting. In terms of the positives first, the menu was extensive, original (not just your typical tikka masalas) and also very vegetarian-friendly.
